Personal Bio: In college, Briggs found an opportunity to communicate, through radio, to a campus wide audience. While studying Broadcasting at San Francisco State University, he developed an operational closed circuit TV station on campus and begin an active directing career with news, special events, and experimental video projects. This developed in to a love for the process of broadcast television and video especially live, multi camera events. Upon graduation, Briggs immediately found work in the Cable industry, starting local origination studios for General Electric Cablevision in Walnut Creek, California and Peoria, Illinois. This was where his working and management approach to video and broadcast production was forged in the fires of creativity, corporate budgetary review, and the overriding responsibility of the production process. With a move back to Northern California, he found work at KICU, Channel 36 in San Jose. His principle responsibilities were the station’s primary commercial clients and, latter, the news. This was another crucible that shaped Briggs’ approach to working with clients and making sure you can deliver what you promise. Working with agencies that handled the likes of Sears, Montgomery Wards, Safeway, and Long Drugs, was both interesting and rewarding… but a pressure cooker that was relentless. With a commitment to honesty, hard work, and quality, Bob took the next step and founded Valley Media in 1980. This has been his principle business for the past 40 years and remains his passion. The idea was not so much to produce but to be that unique individual that knows how to direct live, multi-camera events, write, manage, design, produce, and consult. While creating a successful rich media department for Tentoe, Inc., a corporate marketing and communications company (2001-2004), Briggs still maintained an active schedule of freelance projects, with a split between corporate events and broadcast or cable production work. Bob Briggs is committed to maintaining the best practices that have guided his career and been a part of every production that Briggs has participated in. Whether its the new digital world of captured editorial output or multi-camera live events that live only in the ether, the goal is always the same. Perfection and complete client satisfaction. |
